 About Our Organization: 

It is the mission of YMEN "To prepare young men and women in North Lawndale for leadership by helping them grow in their faith and character, develop a love for learning, and use their talents to serve the community and strengthen our families."  This is done by offering comprehensive programs of a wide range  from educational support, mentoring from positive role models, spiritual and emotional guidance, vocational classes in the arts, career-based and entrepreneurial education, sports and recreational activities, family supportive services, and service learning to more than 300 students annually.

 About the Position: 

 

Instructional Intern

A YMEN intern is responsible for assisting their supervising instructors in maintaining the class orderliness during lessons and class activities. Intern duties include helping with lesson plans, organizing learning activities, managing students behaviors, observing classroom procedures, preparing visual materials and other educational equipment, providing  feedback for students, and keeping students' records for evaluation. Interns will support YMEN's programs both at the center and throughout the North Lawndale community. Our interns must maintain excellent communication and decision-making skills to set goals and make consistent progress to the class while keeping students engaged.

 Time Commitment: 

 

35 hours per week for 10 weeks including 5 hours per week of paid professional development

Monday - Friday 9am - 2pm

Paid professional development scheduled throughout the internship

$15/hr compensation
