 About Our Organization: 

Kids First Chicago (K1C) is an education nonprofit that brings together Black and Latine families in solidarity to create stronger public schools to support all children in Chicago. Kids First Chicago’s mission is to dramatically improve education for Chicago’s children by ensuring their families are the respected authorities on what their kids need and decision-makers in their kids' education. We do this by partnering with families to support them in gaining the resources, access, and voice they need to achieve their vision for their children.

 About the Position: 

Program Interns 

Kids First is seeking 2 Program Interns whose responsibilities include effective communication with our staff and parent leaders. They will maintain a collaborative relationship between the organization and families and will actively contribute to the planning and execution of our summer programming, bringing creativity to the overall experience for our parent leaders. This involves assisting in the development of program schedules, coordinating logistics, and implementing activities that align with our goals. By working closely with the community and supporting parent initiatives, interns will not only gain valuable hands-on experience but also contribute to the success and positive impact of our programs.

Our focus this summer will be directed toward actively participating in and contributing to various parent programs within our organization. The interns' main focus will be working with our Parent Leadership Fellowship. We have an active West, Southwest, and Northwest fellowships. This summer, we will be starting our 4th parent fellowship in the Southside. The interns will be engaged in the planning, coordination, and execution, with our guidance and dedication to ensure their success.

 Time Commitment: 

Up to 35 hours/week plus 5 hours/week of professional development activities

$17.50/hr compensation
