About Our Organization:
Recipe for Change is a Chicago-based nonprofit working with detainees incarcerated in Cook County Jail. The program began as an opportunity for male detainees of Cook County Jail to learn about healthy food, good nutrition, and the art of quality cooking through live cooking demonstrations in a small onsite kitchen as an enrichment correctional program.
Over the years, with the support of the Recipe for Change community and in partnership with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, we have grown into a full workforce development program and so much more. We now support men and women in the jail and offer culinary and fine arts programs. Our culinary program includes formal culinary and sanitation instruction, ServSafe certification, and an internship experience. Our fine arts programs include a growing music production program and an art studio.
About the Position:
Position 1. Outreach/ Data Intern
Position 2. Social Media/Marketing Intern
We would like both interns to visit the program weekly giving them an opportunity to become acquainted with all aspects of our programming including our participants. Meeting our detainees and hearing their stories can be so impactful. The remaining weekdays work can be done remotely. One intern will focus on outreach to former participants and updating our database helping us to create better metrics. The other intern will work with marketing and social media assisting us in getting more media exposure for all aspects of our program.
Time Commitment:
35 hours per week for 10 weeks including 5 hours per week of paid professional development

Monday through Friday 9:00am - 2:30pm
Paid professional development scheduled throughout the internship
$15/hr compensation
Location of Internship:
70-80% Virtual
20-30% Onsite

Public transportation via the pink or orange line.
Another option would be to arrange a meeting spot
and the manager will drive them to visit the program.
