Kids First Chicago

job description

 About Our Organization:

Kids First Chicago’s mission is to dramatically improve education for Chicago’s children by ensuring high-quality public schools are accessible to all families. We believe that a healthy education environment where kids, schools, and communities thrive is the key to a world-class city. We believe that those closest to our students - families, community members, and educators - are best equipped to design policies and systems that will improve equity and lead to stronger outcomes for our students, our communities, and our city.

At Kids First Chicago, we believe that a healthy education environment where kids, schools, and communities thrive is the key to a world-class Chicago. Today we activate communities and families to identify, navigate to, and advocate for high-quality public schools for their kids with clear and transparent information. Then we work with parents and the district to shape education policy to better support families.

See website for more info.

 About the Position:

The summer is an important time for planning at Kids First Chicago (K1C). This summer, K1C will engage over 200 parents, community members, and educators in a series of focus groups. These focus groups will inform educational policies and priorities for K1C, Chicago Public Schools (CPS), and other education partners during the 2021-2022 school year, as we all work to recover learning lost during the COVID-19 pandemic and reimagine how education might serve all children more equitably. We anticipate interns will be able to provide logistical and administrative support during the implementation of these focus groups. In years past, interns have also provided research and data analysis to support our community engagement efforts.
