About Our Organization:
Chicago Cares builds upon community partnerships in core neighborhoods on the city’s South and West Sides, challenging Chicagoans’ preconceived notions and contributing directly to neighborhood revitalization plans along the way. As a result, our volunteers meet immediate community needs and forge ahead on community priorities. The results have been remarkable.
Since 2017, Chicago Cares has followed the lead of our lead community-based organizations to engage 14,275 volunteers across 1,069 projects in neighborhoods like Auburn Gresham, Belmont Cragin, Bronzeville, Chicago Lawn, Englewood, Hermosa, Little Village, and North Lawndale.
About the Position:
Intern, Volunteer Engagement
•Acquire and deliver supplies for corporate volunteer programs; pulling from, returning, and organizing supplies to the storage warehouse
•Support volunteer engagement managers in staging supplies and preparing project sites
•Support volunteer engagement managers in providing leadership at volunteer programming
•Maintain partner relationships when managing a public-facing program
•Provide leadership for both in-person and virtual projects (including completing project prep, supply acquisition, day of event management and project wrap-up) for staff-led projects and assume leadership of on-going public-facing projects, should a Chicago Cares volunteer leader not be available
•Other duties as assigned
Time Commitment:
Up to 35 hours/week working
Up to 5 hours/week professional development activities
$19/hr compensation
